“Saddened by the news reaching me from Haiti, I have decided that my next ACES concert will be in the direction of Haitian youth,” wrote Kery James, this Wednesday, March 17, 2021, on his Official Facebook page.

It’s customary to hear the voice of this rapper, who is very popular in the French-speaking world, on tracks calling for justice for the oppressed and denouncing corrupt politicians, as on “Racailles” released in 2016.

“I wish the Haitian people peace, security and justice one day”, added the author of the film “Banlieusard”, about the lives of young blacks, sons of immigrants in the suburbs of France.

Quid A.C.E.S?

Pour Apprendre, Comprendre, Entreprendre et Servir (A.C.E.S) is an association founded in 2008 by Kerry. With this structure, the “humanist” rapper supports young people wishing to continue their higher education with scholarships.

Since 2014, Kery James has been offering concerts in different cities, returning a portion of his fee each time to a young person with the aim of helping them further their education.

In Haiti, the days are getting darker and darker. Nothing works anymore except the anger and frustration of a people tired of their leaders. Artists and rappers around the world are turning their attention to the country’s plight. The #FreeHaiti ashtag has been taken up by many foreign public figures, including the Dominican-born rapper Cardi-B.
