Talking about sexuality in Haiti has been and still is a taboo subject. Some treat it with great discretion, for fear of suffering prejudice. But young writer Murielle Mishma says out loud what others keep quiet about. She dares to talk about it. Murielle has published her first book, “Pareilles. À celle qui suit ma trace”. It deals with themes such as the mistress of a couple’s life and sexuality.

“Sexuality is the set of behaviors related to the satisfaction of the sexual instinct” defines the writer.

“Pareilles” tells the story of a young woman’s sentimental and phantasmagorical adventures, as she sets out to leave her past behind and build a new future for herself. From adventure to adventure, she has come to understand that unhappy sentimental experiences do not define the personality of a woman of immense destiny. So she invites others who have been down the same road to use this bad chapter in their lives to bring their story to a happy ending.

Does he want to break taboos in Haiti?

“Exactly I wrote it. Not only do people often avoid the subject of mistresses not as beneficiaries of married men but as lovers of them. You can love someone who’s already taken because the heart makes choices that you can’t go against. Nevertheless, you have to think of yourself and let the other person live his or her life. And what’s more, in this book I’ve written some gritty details about sexual scenes, and that’s pretty daring of me.”.

“Writing has always been a part of me. I started writing at the age of 14. First poems, then little love stories that were sometimes published in the CSL magazine. I often received compliments from my classmates. In 2017, I started writing again, but this time in a much more erotic style.”_

She continues, “I don’t write these texts because it’s a way of grabbing attention. I do it because I love it, and because I find myself in Ange Bellie Andou’s shoes when I read her books. That’s what fascinates me. I’m the kind of woman who expresses clearly what she feels and says frankly what she thinks”_.

Writer Mishma would like to see sexuality no longer considered a taboo subject in all its forms. For this consideration is paralyzing Haitian society. In the absence of sex education in some Haitian families, some spouses are unable to tell their partners their greatest fantasy. Sexual communication is very important in relationships.

Writing the texts gave Murielle a sense of freedom. This freedom has above all enabled me to write sensual texts, because it’s good to be able to talk freely about one’s sexuality, even though we all know that it’s a taboo subject in my country. While others are perhaps afraid of being criticized by the community”_, she continues with a smile. It’s a feeling of fulfillment and pride, but also of accomplishment, especially when you imagine the warmth and desire that invade readers. Some of my sentences and words don’t come about by chance, I choose them specifically to excite my readers and keep them on the edge of their seats”_.

She feels she’s had a talent for the romance genre since she was a young girl, and she’s added a little spice since her personal experiences have helped her a lot. The former CSL student chose the erotic world because she felt that sexuality is extraordinary, it feels good. Further on, she wonders: _”Why are people forced to consider this subject taboo when they practice it every day? I’ve loved eroticism ever since I was a little girl. I was fascinated by films about sex, love films and so on. I enjoyed watching them. That’s why, when I became an adult, I realized that I was attracted to erotica”,_ declares the fantasy fairy.

“Women, if you’ve ever been or are in love with a man who already belongs to another woman, remember that the heart doesn’t take such details into account. Don’t be ashamed of having loved so much, on the contrary, channel this love towards a precise goal: to find the man of your life, the one who will belong to you in turn.”_ This is the inspiring message of Pareilles.

The port-au-princienne takes advantage of this space to offer sage advice to all those who are passionate about sexuality. Life isn’t just about sex,” she says, “don’t attribute your happiness to the fact that you’re sexually fulfilled. That’s part of happiness too, but the most important thing is to succeed in life, because when you’re unhappy, sexual desire isn’t there.

Murielle Joseph was born in Port-au-Prince on October 31, 1989. She completed her secondary education with the Sisters of Charity of Saint Louis Bourdon and holds a degree in Public Administration from the University of Port-au-Prince. She describes herself as a very open-minded, accomplished and experienced woman. A writer who deals with taboo subjects and publishes erotic texts on Instagram. She describes herself as courageous, strong, persevering and very open-minded. A woman who knows what she wants and is sure to achieve it.

Murielle Mishma’s mission is to make people dream through her writing. A gentle pen, full of life and love stories, some more interesting than others. Despite all the stereotypes, she’s sure to make her mark in the erotic world.
