As the hearing of the 17 former Colombian soldiers implicated in the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse concluded on Monday, June 16, 2025, before the Port-au-Prince Court of Appeal, Haitian justice is preparing to take a new, sensitive step. Judge Emmanuel Lacroix, presiding over the case, announced the summoning of several key political and security figures as part of the investigation.
Among those called to appear are former First Lady Martine Moïse, who was injured during the deadly attack on July 7, 2021, as well as former Prime Minister Claude Joseph, Jeantel Joseph, Ardouin Zéphirin, Léon Charles, Renald Luberice, and Dimitri Hérard, the former head of the National Palace General Security Unit (USGPN).
