The End of Fritz Alphonse Jean’s Mandate: A Record Deemed “Nonexistent”

Fin de mandat pour Fritz Alphonse Jean un bilan juge inexistant 1 1
Partager l'article

This Thursday, August 7, 2025, marks the end of Fritz Alphonse Jean’s tenure as president of Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council (CPT). He will be replaced by Laurent Saint-Cyr, a representative of the private sector.

During Jean’s leadership, few tangible results were achieved, particularly in the area of security in Haiti, while the country remains ravaged by armed gangs. The much-publicized “war budget” against insecurity never advanced beyond an announcement.

Criticized for his lack of impact, Jean leaves behind a weakened political transition, with an executive powerless to meet the expectations of an exhausted population.

His departure opens a new chapter, though with no guarantees it will be any better.

In deep disagreement with Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the representative of the August 30 Accord on the CPT proved to be a disappointment for those who once believed in his promised “rupture transition”, long promoted in the media.

Ultimately, Fritz Alphonse Jean embodies the failure of Haiti’s traditional political class.
