Haiti Launches “IKAT” Digital System to Modernize Border Entry and Exit Procedures
In a concerted effort to modernize Haiti’s immigration services, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) has officially launched the pilot version of its new digital system, dubbed “IKAT”. The unveiling, held at the Hotel El Rancho, brought together various officials from the public administration under the auspices of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, who was recognized as the project’s primary initiator.
Set to gradually phase out traditional paper embarkation and disembarkation forms, “IKAT” promises to streamline administrative procedures through online registration while simultaneously bolstering border security. The system is designed to improve the management of migratory flows, centralize traveler data, and build a reliable statistical foundation to guide public policy.
Antoine Jean Simon Fénelon, Director General of the DIE, underscored the pivotal role played by the government and the Ministry of the Interior in implementing this ambitious project. He noted that the initiative marks a significant step toward a more modern, efficient, and transparent framework for migration governance.
