“State of human rights in 2021. Gang hegemony and increase in crime” is the title of a report on the state of human rights in Haiti made public, this Wednesday, December 15, 2021, by the Center d ‘ Analysis and Research in Human Rights, (CARDH).
According to the organization, the hegemony of gangs and the increase in crime reflect a glaring degradation of human rights in Haiti. In this document, CARDH underlines that more than 200 armed groups, supported by the authorities, operate in Haiti.
In addition, 949 cases of kidnapping, including 55 involving foreign nationals, were recorded in Haiti for the year 2021. A sad world record, mentions this report, which contains a number of recommendations made to the authorities concerned.
