The PNH was attempting an umpteenth operation in this large slum controlled by the 5 Segond gang. On the battlefield, at least 5 policemen are killed. Weapons, uniforms and bodies remained in enemy territory. Terrifying videos, obviously taken by the bandits, show the bloodied corpses of police officers, trampled, soiled by the thugs who also set at least two armored tanks on fire.
Voice messages sent by people identified as police officers in difficulty in the village imply a cry for help that was not answered by the highest police authorities.
On social networks, many of them express their anger at this carnage. Citizens in Haiti as in the diaspora, deplore this act and point the finger at Léon Charles, the DG a.i of the Haitian National Police.
On Saturday morning, another video suggests that the Village de Dieu gang leader himself organized the burial of the police. A small table, candles, a black t-shirt with the badge of “Swat”, flowers, with the voice of “Izo”, explaining that he chose not to return the bodies of his victims to their parents , for his superstitious reasons. Stanley Eugène, Ariel Poulard, Georges Renoit, Vivender G. Alexis and Wisley Désilus are not entitled to a dignified funeral.
Meanwhile, during a press briefing on Saturday, the police spoke of 4 dead and 8 wounded in their ranks, and no defeat in the enemy camp. No additional details on this operation turned to carnage.
A few hours after the incident, Jovenel Moïse spoke in a “Live” announced the day before. The president, whose term expired on February 7, announced measures to track down bandits in the village of God. This is not the first time that we have heard the former boss of Agritrans utter these words which seem not to frighten the bandits.
In the meantime, suspicions of possible collusion between the ruling team and the federation of gangs remain. One of the members of the Presidential Disarmament Commission (CNDDR) claimed to be behind the creation of this group.
Criticized for his autocratic drifts, Jovenel Moise has his head in the cup. He is concerned about three major projects: referendum, elections and electrification, to the chagrin of the climate of insecurity which terrorizes the Haitian population.
