Very early this Sunday morning at 10 a.m., the demonstrators gathered at several assembly points, notably at the airport crossroads, known as Carrefour Résistance, and at Champs de Mars. White T-shirts, placards and flags in hand, musical floats and bands on foot, they all shouted their discontent and the international community’s interference in the country’s internal affairs. At 11 a.m., the protesters headed for the Delmas freeway, and along the way they uttered hostile words to Madame Lalime, who had declared that “the February 14 mobilization counted only 3,000 people”. According to many, this statement instigated the population to take to the streets of Port-au-Prince. They were like the people of Israel in the desert, thirsting for deliverance. They covered several kilometers on foot: from Delmas 40, Rue Marcadieu, Bourdon, Juvenat to Canapé Vert.

Everything went off peacefully, with no burning tires or clashes between the population and the police. The atmosphere was just right. The musical floats created a lively atmosphere all along the route. Solidarity and fraternity prevailed among all strata of society, with a single goal: a better quality of life. As expected, they delivered a strong message in front of the BINUH. They reminded international cooperation of its mission to uphold the rights of all human beings and contribute to the respect of democracy. At the same time, they called for the 134:2 constitution to be respected.

Arriving at their final destination, Place de Canapé-Vert, they observed a few minutes’ silence in honor of Dr. Ernst Paddy, who was shot dead yesterday morning, and his kidnapped wife. These various organizations are announcing new mobilizations that will soon take on a new dimension.
