Is Alix Didier Fils-Aimé trying to put the press in his pocket?

Date:

On Saturday May 3, 2025, World Press Freedom Day, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé met with media owners and journalists. At a time when the head of government is incapable of demonstrating his authority, some fear that he is trying to buy the silence of the press.

It’s no secret that Alix Didier Fils-Aimé isn’t cut out for the job of Prime Minister. Five (5) months after taking office, the politically inexperienced businessman has failed to foster a climate of security in the country. Head of the Conseil supérieur de la police nationale (CSPN), Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, rather than working to reclaim lost territory, is engaged in a tug-of-war with the Director General of the Haitian National Police. This behavior is proving fatal for the country.

The facts are there. The press is witness to Alix Didier Fils-Aimé’s incapacity and incompetence. With this meeting organized on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, observers believe that the Prime Minister is trying to ensnare the sector. In fact, he would like to muzzle the press, to put it in his pocket. Let’s wait and see how journalists and the media behave in the days to come.
