In a tweet, Martine Moïse, widow of former president Jovenel Moïse, made a vibrant appeal to the Haitian population for a massive mobilization this Wednesday.

In it, she denounces the unbearable living conditions, growing insecurity and lack of government support in the face of the crises ravaging the country.

Martine Moïse expressed her deep sadness at the violence affecting several areas, including Solino, Delmas 30, Kenscoff and Mirebalais. She underlined the distress of families faced with rain, lack of shelter and uncertainty about their children’s future.

She castigated the inaction of the authorities: “The State, which should have been supporting us for the past 4 years, is not interested in the people’s affairs.” A bitter observation that reflects the feeling of abandonment of a large part of the population.

Martine Moïse urges Haitians to take to the streets this Wednesday to demand accountability. She urges the government to present a clear plan of action, or risk leaving office.

This appeal comes against a backdrop of extreme tension, marked by an upsurge in gang violence, a humanitarian crisis and a persistent political vacuum.
