Haitian Businessman Pierre Réginald Boulos Detained by ICE in Florida

Haitian businessman Pierre Réginald Boulos was detained this Friday in Boca Raton, Florida, by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. He is suspected of collaborating with gang leaders in Haiti affiliated with a foreign terrorist organization, according to information confirmed by Fox News and federal sources.

“ICE proceeded with the arrest of Mr. Boulos, a lawful permanent resident of the United States, for his alleged involvement in the destabilization of Haiti and his ties to gang leaders designated as terrorists,” the report relayed by the American media stated.

Long regarded as an influential figure in Haiti’s private sector, owner of Delimart supermarkets and several businesses, Boulos has also been at the center of controversies in Haiti. Civil society organizations have accused him of funding political instability by aligning with armed groups in the popular neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince.

This action illustrates the firm stance of the U.S. administration against the proliferation of Haitian gangs and their international connections. “Viv Ansanm” is in Washington’s crosshairs, accused of multiple crimes, including kidnappings, massacres, and attacks on schools and hospitals.

This strengthening of sanctions is part of a broader strategy aimed at improving the security climate in the Caribbean. It remains to be seen whether these measures will be accompanied by increased cooperation with Haitian authorities and countries in the region
