The transition losing credibility, CARICOM and the OAS aim to play the “saviors.”

Faced with a weakened Haitian political transition marred by scandals and inaction, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), backed by the Organization of American States (OAS), is considering a major reorientation of the ongoing process. The goal: to restore some legitimacy to a governance increasingly contested both within and outside the country.

According to sources close to the matter, a meeting between stakeholders is being prepared to discuss the future of the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC), whose effectiveness is being questioned. No official date has been set yet, but CARICOM aims to formulate a clear proposal to present at the OAS General Assembly, scheduled in Antigua from June 25 to 27, 2025.

In short, the Transitional Presidential Council is a resounding failure. Voices are rising to denounce its members, who are accused of merely enjoying the privileges of their positions while delivering zero results.
