Fantom 509 does not act in the interests of the USA

The American Embassy in Haiti has described the Fantom 509 police as a “criminal organization”, particularly following the incident on Monday that led to the death of a UDMO officer.

In a security alert issued by the State Department and relayed by the U.S. Embassy in Haiti, U.S. citizens are advised to limit unofficial travel. The note labels the protesting police officers, who have been demanding for several days the repatriation of the bodies of their brothers-in-arms killed during the botched March 12 operation in Village de Dieu, as criminals.

With regard to this suicide operation, the embassy has so far failed to issue any note of sympathy on the occasion of the disappearance of these 5 valiant policemen, let alone demand that their remains be recovered to be handed over to their relatives, grief-stricken by the tragedy.

Not once has the embassy described the G9 as a criminal organization.

It should be noted that the U.S. position is followed by that of the Haitian National Police High Command, which has announced disciplinary measures against these officers.

For almost a year now, the Fantom 509 has been taking to the streets, hooded and armed, to press their demands, often with great violence, particularly in the offices of public institutions.

In February, on the route de canapé vert, exchanges of fire between Fantom 509 and PNH units led to the death of a Swat agent.

The Fantom 509 group, often confused with SPNH-17, is reviled by the powers that be and members of the public.

The former Minister of Justice and Public Security, Me Lucmane Delile, described them as “Terrorists”. Bandits terrorize the population, kidnap, rape and kill, while enjoying government protection. Alleged gang leader Jimmy Chérisier was spotted last year coordinating an aid distribution in his stronghold in the company of police authorities.
