On the lawn of the prayer center in Tabarre, Catholic Christians from Haiti are gathered to take part in the 27th national congress from Friday April 9 to Sunday April 11, 2020.

Under the theme “Nothing by force, everything by love”, the Association des Fidèles Charismatiques d’Haïti (AFCH) is organizing Haiti’s biggest spiritual event.

From the outset, Catholic Christians in Haiti and in the diaspora were very skeptical about the congress until the recent official announcement of this 27th edition. While the coronavirus forced the staff to cancel this event in 2020, this year they have not backed down despite the widespread insecurity that has prevailed in Haiti for the past 2 years.

It wasn’t a big crowd as usual. Some faithful Catholics came to pray, despite the economic situation.

These believers seem determined to get what they’ve been after for ages.

Standing or kneeling, Some are in tears, holding up their rosaries, photos of relatives and friends, and even passports for certain deliverance. If for some faith means seeing things that are unreal, these Christians believe that their prayers will inevitably be answered.

Reverend Father André Pierre Paul, first speaker of the day focused on faith. The parish priest of Peggy Ville opts for a real and effective conversion of Haiti, so that its change can be profound and lasting.

The closing mass of the first day was celebrated by Monsignor Sylvain Ducange, Auxiliary Bishop of Port au Prince.

The national committee invites Christians to obtain the booklet in order to be able to follow the programming of the event during the 3 days.

Catholic media are on hand to broadcast the congress.
