Dimitri Vorbe, a prominent businessman and former head of the Société Générale d’Énergie (SOGENER), was arrested on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at his home in the United States. The news was first reported by journalist Frantz Duval, citing a source close to the Vorbe family.
Vorbe’s arrest comes several years after he left Haiti, amid a climate of legal disputes under the administration of former president Jovenel Moïse. At the time, he faced allegations linked to energy contracts deemed irregular, notably those between SOGENER and the Haitian state.
For now, U.S. authorities have not officially disclosed the exact reasons behind the arrest, which was carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
