Without a major record, Réginald Boulos leaves the political scene

Date:

Reginald Boulos’ venture into active politics has come to an abrupt end. The president of the political party Mouvement pour la Transformation et la Valorisation d’Haïti (MTVAYITI) has announced his resignation as the party’s leader. The businessman cited health issues and political persecution as the main reasons behind his decision.

In a letter dated August 1, 2022, announcing his withdrawal from the political scene, Boulos mentioned that a committee has been appointed to lead the party.

“Given my personal situation and state of health, I am compelled to step down from the presidency of MTVAYITI,” the letter reads.

The interim leadership committee includes:

  • Fedner Milfort, General Coordinator
  • Schultz Sympssie Cazir, Secretary General
  • Nadia Valérie Victor, Treasurer
  • Prospère Théisme, Regional Coordinator
  • Marie Carmel Christophe, Head of Popular Organizations

This leadership structure will be accompanied by two Party Guardians:

  • Edner Jean
  • Jean Robert Lalane

Their mission: to organize the party’s national congress within 10 months to elect all governing bodies of MTVAYITI.

Meanwhile, a negotiation commission has been established to ensure the party’s participation in the national dialogue process. This commission includes:

  • Dr. Émile Charles
  • Gérald Jean
  • Marie Carmel Christophe

Its role is to represent MTVAYITI in discussions aimed at finding a consensual solution to Haiti’s political crisis.
