The Académie Française has published its prize list for 2021. Three Haitian writers, including Frankétienne, Emmelie Prophète and Louis-Phillipe Dalambert, were honored this year.
The Grand Prix de la Francophonie was awarded to Frankétienne, the mapou of Haitian literature. The author of “PÈLEN TÈT” becomes the second Haitian writer after Jean Mettelus to win this prize.
Novelist Emmelie Prophète Milcé was awarded the Prix du rayonnement de la langue et de la littérature française.
And finally, the François Coppé prize was awarded to Louis-Philippe Dalembert for his collection of poems entitled “Cantique du balbutiement”.
