Port-au-Prince – The Collectif des Éducateurs pour le Renouveau de l’Éducation (CEREH) is demanding urgent clarification of the 19 billion gourdes announced by the government for schools affected by insecurity.
The collective denounces a list published on the National Education Fund (FNE) website that excludes legitimate establishments, and calls for an immediate meeting with Director Sterline Civil.
FNE firmly contradicts these allegations.
In a press release, the institution asserts that it has “never received” the 19 billion mentioned, specifying that the resources collected since 2017, via the dedicated law, have not exceeded “one billion gourdes” cumulatively, due to payment delays.
FNE points out that its expenditure is strictly dependent on the funds available.
A provisional list of schools eligible under the PAEF project has been published and will be updated.
Faced with “unfounded rumors”, FNE is threatening legal action if the authors do not retract their statements within 24 hours.
