The note also recommended that <strong>specialized institutions<\/strong> and <strong>financial oversight bodies<\/strong> investigate the <strong>financial activities<\/strong> of those subject to <strong>international sanctions<\/strong>. At first glance, this appears to be a <strong>selective<\/strong>, <strong>partisan<\/strong> measure.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, only <strong>Barbecue<\/strong>, <strong>Izo<\/strong>, <strong>Ti Lapli<\/strong>, <strong>Lanmo San Jou<\/strong>, <strong>Vitel\u2019Homme Innocent<\/strong>, <strong>Victor Prophane<\/strong>, and <strong>Luckson Elan<\/strong> have been hit by <strong>UN sanctions<\/strong>. Other <strong>politicians<\/strong> and members of the <strong>private sector<\/strong> subject to punitive measures have been targeted by the <strong>United States<\/strong> and <strong>Canada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Do the <strong>gang leaders<\/strong> sanctioned by the <strong>United Nations<\/strong> even have <strong>bank accounts<\/strong>? Why impose <strong>conservatory measures<\/strong> on <strong>criminals<\/strong> who, until now, have proven stronger than even the <strong>security forces<\/strong>, while <strong>politicians<\/strong> and <strong>businessmen<\/strong> remain more or less <strong>within reach<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>In any case, the <strong>conservatory measures<\/strong> announced by the <strong>Ministry of Justice<\/strong> against individuals <strong>sanctioned by the UN<\/strong> are purely and simply a <strong>bluff<\/strong>, conveniently ignoring the <strong>sanctions imposed by the United States and Canada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a note dated May 12, 2025, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security instructed the Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince to take conservatory measures against individuals sanctioned by the United Nations, including the immediate freezing of all their bank accounts.
