Haiti’s Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC), created in 1899, aims to structure the country’s infrastructure and public services.<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

Despite a bloated organization of 2,000 agents and several departments, the results remain disappointing, with deteriorated infrastructures, limited access to drinking water and electricity, and inadequate telecommunications, particularly in rural areas.<\/p> \n \n

The reforms envisaged are struggling to materialize due to red tape, lack of coordination, poorly optimized funding and opaque governance.<\/p> \n \n

We need to reorient the MTPTC towards efficiency, by prioritizing concrete results, strengthening transparency and delegating more to the territories.<\/p> \n \n

To regain the trust of citizens, the ministry must move on from theory to tangible action, or risk remaining a symbol of the Haitian state’s broken promises.<\/p> \n \n
