{"id":23743,"date":"2025-04-15T19:40:07","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T23:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hebdo24.com\/2025\/04\/15\/non-categorise\/haiti-popular-demands-are-the-last-line-of-defence-against-total-collapse\/"},"modified":"2025-05-11T18:13:49","modified_gmt":"2025-05-11T22:13:49","slug":"haiti-popular-demands-are-the-last-line-of-defence-against-total-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hebdo24.com\/en\/haiti-popular-demands-are-the-last-line-of-defence-against-total-collapse\/","title":{"rendered":"Haiti: Popular demands are the last line of defence against total collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Port-au-Prince is now under siege, dominated by gangs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"p1\">With 85% of the city under their control, the inhabitants live in constant fear, where every move can turn into a veritable survival course.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Bullets strike indiscriminately, hitting innocents and combatants alike, in a violence that is neither relentless nor compassionate.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"p1\">The security forces, overworked and ineffective, can no longer protect citizens, who are left to fend for themselves in a failing state.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"p1\">However, in the midst of this disorder, a will to resist is emerging.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Tired of unfulfilled promises and inaction on the part of their leaders, the population is organizing itself as best it can to defend itself.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"p1\">These self-defense groups bear witness to a people who refuse to surrender.
