In a bid to raise awareness and recognition of Haitian heritage, “Asosyasyon Touristik Lakay” (ATOULA) is launching a Heritage Education campaign in Haiti. From April 16 to June 30, 2021, five of the country’s departments will be the scene of a series of activities set up by this structure.
With the aim of educating in the preservation and enhancement of Haitian heritage, ATOULA which is a community association created in 2016 promotes Haitian culture by mobilizing heritage and tourism resources.
Already on social networks, ATOULA is launching slogans and messages to raise awareness of heritage preservation and enhancement. Young people from different places are chosen to take part in the campaign, and others are offering to volunteer.
Activities linked to this awareness-raising campaign include conference-debates, heritage training and education, visits to heritage sites and text competitions.
Several major international events will be included in this commendable project

There will be an activity to mark each of these events. World Art Day is scheduled for April 15, as is World Peasant’s Day on April 17. International Monuments and Sites Day on April 18, Earth Day on April 22, International Dance Day on April 29, World Day for Responsible and Respectful Tourism on June 2, World Environment Day on June 5, World Ocean Day and International Archives Day will not go unnoticed.
The official launch of this campaign will take place on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 10 am with a conference at the premises of IERAH/ISERSS, an entity of the Université d’État d’Haïti, around the theme “Aux origines du patrimoine haïtien, États des lieux et règlements”.
Mr Frantz Délice, PhD student in Heritage and Ethnology, also Director of Cultural Heritage at the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, and Ms Lovely Amaza, a political scientist and philosopher, will be speaking at the official launch. Social communicator and professor Nazaire Joinville, who is one of ATOULA’s ambassadors. will act as moderator.
Numerous activities are planned in the capital for the month of April, but from May onwards, these activities will take place in the South, South-East, North and Central regions.
